About Lisa Alvarez:

Originally from the southern east coast of the United States, I graduated from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2001 with undergraduate studies in psychology and continued with my education and graduating from The College of the Albemarle in 2003 in nursing. I moved to San Diego in 2005 with my husband on a military station. I began working at Sharp Chula Vista hospital in the critical care unit and specialized in cardiology. Caring of NSTEMI,STEMI, unstable angina, AFib/Aflutter and acute coronary syndrome patients. Perform myoviews, lexiscans, and stress echos. Interrogates PPM/AICDs. Manage IABP, Blake drains, chest tubes, and pacing wires. Place a-lines and developed system policies. I continued my studies at The University of San Diego graduating in 2010 with a master’s in Family Nurse Practitioner. I am board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and am licensed and certified by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). I have worked at Cardiovascular Institute and San Diego Vein Specialists since 2003, managing and treating venous insufficiency with laser ablation and hold that certification. I have also continued education and training in the specialty of phlebectomy, sclerotherapy, and ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy to add to our comprehensive vein center. Since then, I have continued my education and I am in my third year at the University of San Diego receiving doctoral education. After receiving my PhD I will continue with research studies and help expand and add to the knowledge of cardiology and vascular that currently exists. I carry advanced cardiac life support and basic life support certifications. I have two children and two Italian greyhounds. I love my patients and know they are the reason I am here.
